    LRD Commanding General visits Meldahl Locks & Dam

    Brigadier General Mark Quander, Commanding General of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division visited the Meldahl Locks and Dam to observe the work of the Light Capacity Fleet as it conducts maintenance on the auxiliary chamber. This critical work is essential to ensuring continued flow of commerce along the Ohio River.

    NRAC wins Excellence in Partnership Award

    The New River Alliance of Climbing was awarded the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Excellence in Partnership Award during a ceremony held at Summersville Lake on September 7, 2023. The Excellence in Partnerships Award annually recognizes exceptional contributions by a partner supporting the Recreation and/or Environmental Stewardship programs. The award recipient is selected based on accomplishment of management objectives, creativity, improvements in public awareness and education, serving diverse audiences and involvement of other partners.

    Ridgeview Elementary Ribbon Cutting

    The Ridgeview Elementary Ribbon Cutting Ceremony took place on June 9 in Clintwood, VA at the new Ridgeview Elementary School. This event celebrated the completion of a Section 202 project that provided flood protection for Dickenson County Schools.
