U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District meets with Kent
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District Commander, Col. Reyn Mann, along with Regulatory Division Chief, Eric Reusch, and senior project manager, Patti Grace-Jarrett, met with board members from the Kentucky Ecological Restoration Association (KERA) at Rolling Fork Stream and Wetland Mitigation Bank near Bradfordsville, Kentucky, The site visit reinforced the Louisville District’s commitment to cultivating partnerships that support the district’s compensatory mitigation mission. The Louisville District’s Regulatory Division is responsible for administering the Regulatory Program in the majority of Indiana and Kentucky, the southeastern portion of Illinois, and the Ohio River to southwestern Ohio. We are dedicated to providing strong protection of the Nation’s aquatic environment and navigation capacity, while allowing reasonable development through fair and balanced decisions. Pursuant to its authority under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, the USACE Regulatory Division evaluates permit applications and performs compliance and enforcement for essentially all work that occurs in “waters of the United States”. The Department of the Army Regulatory Program is one of the nation's oldest federal programs, initially focused on protecting the navigable capacity of the nation's waters. Over time, it has expanded in complexity and authority due to changing public needs, policy, case law, and new statutory mandates. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Kelsie Hall)
