Maj. Gregory D. Brown assumed the role of Buffalo District Deputy District Commander on June 26, 2026. In his most recent assignment, he completed Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
A Fredericksburg, Virginia, native, Brown received his commission into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in May 2014 from Norfolk State University with an associate degree in science in architectural drafting and a bachelor of science in building construction technology. He holds a master of business administration with an emphasis in project management from Webster University and a project management professional certificate.
Brown’s assignments include serving as a platoon leader and battalion personnel officer for the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He served as a deputy area engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New York District, where he managed a $200 million construction portfolio for the KC-46 Program and deployed for disaster relief with Task Force Power.
After completing the Engineer Captains Career Course, he was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Cavazos, Texas, where he served as the division engineer (forward) during the European Deterrence Initiative, assistant operations officer for the 3rd Brigade Engineer Battalion, and company commander for Bravo Company, 3rd BEB. He served with the 3rd Security Force Assistance Brigade as an engineer advisor team leader and brigade engineer.
Brown’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Army Commendation Medal (two oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (two oak leaf clusters), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Air Assault Badge.
Brown is a graduate of the Engineer Basic Officer Leader Course, the Engineer Captains Career Course, and the Command and General Staff College.
His deployments and rotations include Operation Spartan Shield (2024), Operation Atlantic Resolve (2022), European Deterrence Initiative (2020), and Hurricane Maria Disaster Relief with Task Force Power (2017-2018).
