The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in exempted or excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Maj. Matt McGuire comes to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District following an assignment as the Executive Officer, 92nd Engineer Battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia.

He was born in Auburn, GA and raised in Valrico, FL. He is married and has four children; their Family is living in Cranberry Township, and they are excited to be part of the USACE Family once again.

Maj. McGuire holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida, a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, and a Master’s of Operational Studies from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the Engineer Captain’s Career Course, the Engineer Officer Basic Course, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.

Maj. McGuire’s previous assignments include: Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, Alpha Company, 3rd Special Troops Battalion, and S3 Planner, 21st Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Battalion Adjutant, Assistant Operations Officer and Alpha Company Commander, 3rd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division Commander, Fort Hood, Texas; Project Officer, Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL), Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC), Champaign, Illinois; Division Engineer, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia; Operations Officer and Executive Officer, 92nd Engineer Battalion, 20th Engineer Brigade, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Bronze de Fluery Medal, the Ranger and Sapper Tabs, and the Air Assault and Combat Action Badges.
