    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Pittsburgh District is evaluating a proposed alteration to the Turtle Creek Local Protection Project (LPP) by Peoples Natural Gas Company, LLC (PNG). PNG has submitted a request under Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) to the Pittsburgh District to alter the Turtle Creek LPP (approximate coordinates 40.406587° N, 79.826518° W) for the replacement of approximately 1,270 linear feet of bare steel natural gas pipeline. A new 12-inch and a 6-inch plastic line will be installed below Thompson Run via Horizontal Directional Drilling methods. Approximately 75 feet of each line below Thompson Run is subject to this Section 408 review.

Consolidation of Studies

The Water Resources Development Act establishes a single-phase cost-shared study process that for each feasibility study undertaken, the district engineer will develop a detailed study schedule and notify the non-federal interests.
