Approved Review Plan: Loyall Ponding Design Deficiency Review Plan

Nashville District
Published Aug. 8, 2024
Expiration date: 6/1/2025

The project will be completed in two phases. During Phase 1, the upstream inlet is to be modified to become an outlet. An additional flapgate will be added on the Cumberland River side, the interior sluice gate will be rehabilitated, and a trash screen added on the pond side of the culvert. The existing weir in the Cumberland River will be removed. The downstream flapgate is to be replaced. A causeway will be constructed on the lower end to allow for maintenance access, and will be the connection and access for the Phase II bench. Phase II includes the construction of an access bench along much of the ponding area. It serves two purposes: reducing the volume of water in the ponding area, and allowing for maintenance access along the length of the pond. Also, an aeration system will be installed to allow the local sponsor to raise the dissolved oxygen when needed.
