Draft Environmental Assessment of Base Improvements to Support the Strategic Basing of Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron #10

Chicago District
Published July 8, 2024
Expiration date: 8/19/2024

The National Guard Bureau (NGB), with assistance from the Chicago District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the redevelopment of one of the six candidate locations to accommodate Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron (AES) #10. The preferred alternative is Naval Air Station (NAS) Joint Reserve Base (JRB) Fort Worth, TX. Basing AES #10 at NAS JRB Fort Worth, TX would entail interior renovation of existing buildings with no new impervious surface. The Draft EA evaluates potential impacts to the human and natural environment from the implementation of the proposed basing action and concludes that it would not result in significant impacts to the environment and further analysis or documentation, such as the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement, is not required. The environmental analysis for the proposed action is being conducted by the NGB and USACE in accordance with the Council on Environmental Quality guidelines pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.

The NGB and USACE invite the public to review and comment on the Draft EA and Draft FONSI, which may be accessed at the links below. Comments are requested by August 19th, 2024. Comments may be submitted to:
