Chemical Warfare Development Division was used to secure and develop mustard agent from February 1918 until October 1918. The Chemical Warfare Development Division property was then transferred back to Dow Chemical, where it was used for various manufacturing processes until 1970 before being demolished.
Chemical Warfare Development Division is one of many former military sites throughout the United States reviewed under the Department of Defense's Munitions Response Site Prioritization Protocol. This protocol is used to assess Formerly Used Defense Sites that may have unexploded ordnance, discarded military munitions or munitions constituents, and to guide future investigations or munitions removal activities at these sites.
