    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, invites the public and media to attend a christening ceremony for the Derrickboat Kolber at the USACE Ohio Areas Office, Monday October 24 at 11am. Following the ceremony, public tours of the vessel will be available until 4 p.m.
  • NR 22-25: Portion of Kendall Recreation Area closing for erosion control project

    JAMESTOWN, Ky. (Oct. 20, 2022) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that portions of Kendall Campground and Day Use Area, to include its boat ramp and roadway along the riverside campground, are closing for repairs Oct. 24, 2022, through early April 2023 to rehabilitate flood damage sustained in February 2019.
  • NOTICE TO BOATERS: Sandusky Harbor Dredging Sediment Pipeline Location Change

    Michigan-based Luedtke Engineering began dredging Sandusky Harbor on September 18. Due to shallow water levels, they have had to extend the sediment pump-out pipeline. Boaters should go out to the navigation channel before heading out into the lake to avoid dredge operations. Please see attached map of new area.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Celebrates Completion of Rochester East Pier Repairs

    Today the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of repairs to the 1,025 foot, 114 year-old Rochester East Pier. In attendance were Lt. Col. Colby Krug, Commander USACE Buffalo District, John Pellito representing Congressman Joe Morelle, Chief Matthew Riesberg, Officer in Charge U.S. Coast Guard Station Rochester.

  • Corps of Engineers receiving new crane barge for St. Marys River

    SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich., - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District in concert with the Philadelphia District and the Marine Design Center awards a contract to Southwest Shipyard LP of Houston, Texas in the amount of $11.4 million for a new crane barge on the St. Marys River. “The new crane barge will perform critical lock and hydropower facility maintenance at the Soo Project Office (Soo Locks),” said Justin Proulx, Chief of the St. Marys River Section. “Additionally, the new vessel will support channel maintenance and will be ready to respond to critical maritime incidents on the St Marys River, such as vessel groundings and anchor drags.” The final design, construction, testing and delivery of the Detroit District’s new crane barge are all part of the awarded contract. Southwest Shipyards is a small business and operates four shipyards along the Texas Gulf Coast. Southwest Shipyards intends to construct the new crane barge at their Brady Island shipyard with delivery expected in Fall of 2024.
