  • Old Hickory Lake clearing storm debris as campgrounds reopen

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 30, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is working to remove storm debris from Cages Bend Campground in Gallatin, Tennessee, and Cedar Creek Campground in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, on the shoreline of Old Hickory Lake. Both campgrounds open Saturday, April 1, as scheduled.
  • Corps increases operational activity at Shallow Land Disposal Area

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Pittsburgh District announces an increase in operational activity at the Shallow Land Disposal Area (SLDA) in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. During the next few months, residents near the SLDA site will see increased site workers, equipment, signage and maintenance. In addition, site workers will perform infrastructure maintenance such as repairing fencing and drainage ways, clearing trees and brush from between the fences, and removing aged solar panels.
  • USACE provides an update about the Rough River Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District will implement Interim Risk Reduction Measures (IRRM) to ensure life safety and to further protect the integrity of Rough River Dam in Falls of Rough, Kentucky.
  • NR 23-03: Wolf Creek Dam oxygen diffuser project underway

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is executing a sustainability project funded by the Section 212 Program to install an upstream diffuser system at Wolf Creek Dam on the Cumberland River in Jamestown, Kentucky.

  • NR 23-01: Public workshop set for Center Hill Lake Shoreline Management Plan update

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 19, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Center Hill Lake Resource Management Office is holding a public workshop for its shoreline management plan update 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2003, at the DeKalb County Community Complex in Smithville, Tennessee.
  • Investigations into October blasting incident complete

    Investigations into the blasting incident that took place on the Louisville VA Medical Center construction site on Oct. 4, 2022, are complete. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Kentucky Division of Mine Reclamation and Enforcement, and DynoConsult, a third-party consultant retained by the prime contractor Walsh-Turner Joint Venture, each conducted independent investigations to determine the cause of the incident and identify remediation measures for future blasts.
  • Fisherman's Access Trail on Shippingport Island to reopen under restricted Special Use

    Effective immediately the Fisherman’s Access Trail (located along the western bank of Shippingport Island within the Falls of The Ohio National Wildlife Conservation Area in Louisville, Kentucky) will reopen, however it will be operated under restricted Special Use. In the interest of public safety, the Fisherman’s Access Trail will be utilized strictly for Special Use with the issuance of a Special Activity Permit.
  • Army Corps to collect Christmas trees at Tionesta Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District will begin accepting live evergreen Christmas trees at Tionesta Lake, which will be used for aquatic habitat-improvement projects, beginning Dec. 27.
  • USACE to provide update on Rough River Dam Safety Modification at public meeting Dec. 7

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, will host an informational public meeting Dec. 7, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. CST on the Rough River Dam Safety Modification project, as well as the status of the dam.
