    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is pleased to announce significant progress on the flood risk management project for the city of Cleveland, Tennessee, aimed at reducing flooding risks in the South Mouse and Fillauer Branch watersheds.
  • Contract Awarded for Lasting Repairs to Cleveland West Pier

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District awarded a $6.9 million contract to Michigan-based Great Lakes Dock & Materials LLC on June 3 for the repair of the Cleveland West Pier. Repairs to the West Pier ensure Cleveland Harbor’s viability and contributions to the local and national transportation sector and protect the future of some of the area’s best waterfront recreation opportunities.
  • Corps of Engineers Completes Nearly $20 Million in Cleveland Harbor Maintenance

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District completed $19.5 in maintenance and repairs to Cleveland Harbor in 2023. This year’s work included annual maintenance dredging in the Cuyahoga River and significant repairs to the harbor’s more-than century old breakwater, ensuring safe access for vessels, the flow of commodities across the Great Lakes, and the economic viability of the nation’s waterways.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Awards Contract to Dredge Cleveland Harbor

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District awarded a $5.98 million contract to Michigan-based Walsh Service Solutions on March 10 to conduct dredging of the federal navigation channel in Cleveland Harbor. Dredging of harbors like Cleveland’s ensures accessible depths for large vessels, the continued flow of commodities across the Great Lakes, and the economic viability of United States waterways.
  • Significant Navigation Upgrades Being Made to Cleveland Harbor Infrastructure

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District is making more than $16 million in upgrades to the breakwaters that protect critical infrastructure in Cleveland Harbor. As part of multiple projects, repairs and extensions are being made to portions of the more than five-mile-long structure which allows for navigation between the City of Cleveland and Lake Erie. This ensures the harbor’s ongoing value to the local and national economy.
  • Record of Decision released for the former Harshaw Chemical Company FUSRAP site

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, has released the Record of Decision for Operable Unit (OU) 1 and OU-2, Former Harshaw Chemical Company Site. The 55-acre former Harshaw Chemical Company Site, which is located at 1000 Harvard Avenue in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, is being addressed under the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP).
