LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District was notified of an early morning fire at Nolin River Lake in Bee Spring, Kentucky, which caused extensive damage to the vacant former Nolin River Lake Project Office located by the control tower. There are no injuries reported and all personnel are accounted for. The nearby control tower, dam and critical facilities did not sustain damage during the fire. The dam continues to operate as designed. There is no anticipated impact to operations.
Multiple fire departments including Lincoln, Kyrock, Chalybeate, Brownsville, Bear Creek and Wingfield Fire Departments, responded to the scene and began working to control the fire. As of 1:30 p.m. central time the fire is contained, but not fully extinguished.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
