Deputy Commanding General for Civil Works visits key Nashville District projects
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District project managers and leaders provide a status update on the Chickamauga Lock Replacement construction project to Maj. Gen. Jason. Kelly, USACE Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations, during a tour of the project in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Nov. 13, 2024. Gen. Kelly’s visit is part of a district-wide tour aimed at understanding the operational challenges and capabilities of key Corps infrastructure projects. The Chickamauga Lock Replacement Project includes the design and construction of a new 110-foot by 600-foot navigation lock. The new lock is required because of structural deficiencies resulting from physical expansion of the concrete structure in the existing lock.
