Emergency Response

Collapsed BuildingThe U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Emergency Management team stands ready to serve the nation during any disaster. When severe storms, floods and/or other natural disasters strike the Nation, the Corps, along with federal, state and local agencies, is organized to respond quickly and efficiently to solve a broad range of technical and environmental challenges. The Corps provides temporary restoration of water supplies and wastewater treatment systems, drinkable water, ice, generators and temporary housing. The Corps removes debris, inspects structures and repairs damaged streets, bridges, ports, waterway, airfield and other facilities necessary for emergency access to disaster victims as well as provides flood-fighting materials. The Great Lakes and Ohio River Division has supported and continues to support other Divisions during hurricanes, and other natural disasters, just as we have fought floods in our own Division.
